Fair day in Clifden

Description:A photograph of a fair in Clifden town, county Galway. There are a large number of people in the photograph. There are many women in the picture and most of them are wearing shawls. There are, also, a few carts which are not hitched to horses and some large creels or baskets on the ground. There are quite a few donkeys in the scene. One of the first buildings on the right is a Post Office. Further down that street, there are two grocer shops. One has the words "P. Carr Grocer" over the door and the other has the words "James Moncan Grocer" over its door. The first shop on the left has the name "John J. Darcy" over its door and next door, there is a building with the words "E. Coen Tailor & Draper". There is a small hut in the middle of the square. It has the words "IN CONNECTION WITH THE BURLINGTON DUBLIN CORLESS PROPRIETOR" on one side of its roof. The words "CORLESS'S OYSTER BEDS 700 ACRES IN CLIFDEN BAY".
