Ringfort at Caheravoley Bawn
Description:A photograph of a ringfort at Caheravoley Bawn in Galway county. These are circular fortified settlements that were mostly built during the Iron Age (800 BCE–400 CE). They take the form of a circular mound of earth surrounded by a trench. Beyond the fort, there are two sheep grazing near a tree. There is a cow grazing in a field beyond this field. Many of the fields, in the picture, are bounded by stone walls. There is a bungalow in the background.
