Thoor Ballylee Castle
Description:A photograph of Thoor Ballylee Castle. This is a fortified, thirteenth century, Norman tower built by the Burke family. It lies in County Galway near the town of Gort. The author William Butler Yeats purchased this property and lived here, with his family, from 1921 to 1929. The castle is built beside Cloon River, and there is a bridge over this river, next to the castle. There is a small ruin beyond the bridge, and there is a shed on the right of the castle. There are trees growing near this ruin. A portion of the castle is covered in ivy.
