Description:A photograph of Society Street in the east Galway town of Ballinasloe. There are several cars on each side of the street. The registration number of the first car on the right is 'ZJ 5818'. The registration number of the next car is 'ECE 497'. There are two bicycles parked at the edge of the footpath between these two cars. There is a metal rubbish bin near these bikes. There is a similar bin on the other side of the street. The registration number of the first car on the left hand side of the street is 'ZO 2905'. This car is a Morris Minor. Further down this street, there is a man on the footpath with a bicycle. He is wearing a cap. There is a dog near him. The words 'The National Bank Ltd.' is on the wall of the first building on the left. Near the end of the street, on the same side, the word 'Garage' can be seen. Nearby, there are advertisements for BP and Shell (two brands of petrol). The first shop on the right has the name "Holloway" over its door. It has two signs. One sign is an advertisement for "Players Please" and the other is an advertisment for "Gold Flake". These are two brands of cigarette. Next door, there is a wall with a large entrance. The name 'J. Fallon' appears over this entrance. Just below this, there is a church with a bell tower. There are railings in front of this church. Below this, there is a sign which reads, 'Coffee, Teas, Ices, Toys, Sweets, Minerals'. A short distance below this, there is a public house. There are men, women and children in the picture, and there are several electricity poles on each side of the street.
