Egg market in Galway
Collection:Father Browne
Year:1959
Description:A photograph of a man selling kettles, tea pots, crockery, and oil lamps at an egg market in Galway. A group of women has gathered around him. The man is wearing a cap and coat. Some of the women are wearing hats, and at least one is wearing a shawl. A woman on the right is wearing glasses. There are railings on the right, which I think are the railings that surround the grounds of the Collegiate Church of Saint Nicholas. Some of the buildings of the city can be seen. The words 'Connacht Tribune' - a weekly, local newspaper - are written on the walls of one building. This is where the paper is produced. There are electricity poles on the street near the market. The photograph was taken in 1959.
