Description:A photograph of the battlefield at Aughrim in Galway county. The Battle of Aughrim was the decisive battle of the Williamite War in Ireland. It was fought between the Jacobites and the forces of William III in 1691. There is a man, standing in the foreground, pointing towards the battlefield. He is wearing a hat. There are cattle grazing in the field towards which he is pointing. There is a low stone wall in the foreground, and there is a road on the right. There are electricity poles along one side of this road. The photograph was taken in 1942.
