Description:A photograph of limestone rock near Tourmakeady in county Mayo. There are two hammers in the photograph to indicate scale. The caption at the back of the photograph reads "Near Tourmakeady youger volcanic rocks of a more acid composition are associated with limestones which may have formed fringing reefs around emergent volcanoes. The limestones have a very diverse animal life which existed around an archipelago not dissimilar to today's Galapagos Islands.".
