The caption at the back of the photograph reads "At Streadagh Point, the Carboniferous limestones are packed with abundant giant corals. Their skeletons are replaced by silica. These large animals clearly enjoyed the conditions of the Carboniferous tropics and together must have resembled an extensive submarine cabbage patch.".
