A currach is a type of rowing boat which was used off the west coast of Ireland which is where the Aran Islands are located. One man is wearing a knitted hat and the other is wearing a hat with a brim. The man wearing the knitted hat has a beard. There is a pier in the background and there is a second currach docked at this pier. There is a cart on the pier and there are two men standing next to it. There is a boy sitting on the pier. The photograph was taken near the end of the nineteenth century.
