Browne's Doorway
Collection:Connacht Tribune
Description:A photograph of a doorway in Eyre's Square in Galway city. The doorway is known as Browne's Doorway. It was originally the entrance to the family home of the Browne family. This house was on Lower Abbeygate Street. The doorway was moved, in 1905, from there to Eyre Square. There is a bay window over the door, and there is a column on either side of it. There are gates across its entrance. There are two men standing a short distance behind the door, and the Railway Hotel can be seen further on. There are trees and at least one seat in the square. Some of the buildings that surround the square can be seen. There is a public house on the left with the name "O'Connell" over its door.
