Volunteer Gate of Lisreahan House
Description:A photograph of the Volunteer Gate of Lisreahan House of Lawrencetown, in county Galway. This structure was erected by Colonel Walter Lawrence who lived from 1729 to 1796. The gate consists of a large arch with a small arch on each side of it. There is a small lodge on each side of these arches. There are two men standing guard in front of the large arch. Both are in uniform and are armed. They may be members of the Royal Irish Constabulary. There is a man standing on the right; he is wearing a bowler hat. There are trees in the photograph. This photograph formed part of the family album of the Lawrences of Lawrencetown in county Galway.
