Description:A photograph of Ardfry House in Galway. Ardfry House was built in 1770 by Joseph Blake, who later gained the title of Lord Wallscourt. The house is built, in Oranmore, on a peninsula overlooking Galway Bay. The second wife of the fourth earl had gambling debts that were paid off by selling lead off the roof during the early 1900s. There is a beach in the foreground, and there is a low wall between the beach and the estate. There is a gate in this wall. There are trees in the grounds of the house and the area close to the house is quite wooded. There is a hay stack in front of the house. The photograph was taken in 1865.
